FRAIL CARE
The Frail Care Centre at Minerva Gardens consists of 31 rooms which are let to people in need of frail care. The highly trained nursing staff currently provide excellent care to the frail aged residents who all receive full time nursing care on a 24 hour basis.
The services we provide include the following:
- Admission of frail care residents
- Full time individual rooms and frail care ward.
- Meals (3 Balanced meals & tea/coffee is served with biscuits in the morning and afternoon)
- Nursing staff and Care 24 hours
- Administering medicine and chronic medication to full-frail residents
- Attending to personal hygiene of the full-frail residents
- Responding to panic button calls from the full-frail residents
- Preventative medical care information sessions on demand
- Building a profile of each full-frail resident and their support structures
- Housekeeping, cleaning and changing of linen
- Daily Laundry Services
- Counseling if required
- Hairdressing optional extra
- Weekly Bible Studies
- Church services every Sunday
- Knitting Club
- Transport to shops or Doctors at nominal fee
- Purchases done on behalf of patients if required at nominal fee
- Residents are taken in wheelchairs for walks around the Retirement Village
- Assist and encourage residents to have lunch in the dining area to promote interaction and companionship
- Library
- Mini market on premises with handmade articles and refreshments
- Refreshments may also be bought from mobile tuck shop daily
- Recreational activities for the frail care residents
- Braai Facilities available for visiting family and friends
- Accommodation and meals are available for family and friends visiting patients in the Frail Care Centre at competitive rates
Health Care at Minerva Gardens are split into three categories:
1 A service for the residents admitted in the frail care.
2 A service for the rest of the Village.
3 Step down facility
In addition to the frail care service, the health care professionals at Minerva Gardens provide a general 24-hour village-wide medical support care service. At a nominal monthly levy, this service includes a weekly clinic, routine medical care, hand & foot clinics, personal hygiene, regular house visits by the village sister or nursing staff for those who are unable to attend the clinic.
The Frail Care Centre is directly linked to the rest of the village enabling these residents to enjoy different levels of services, depending on the needs of its occupants. |
